Students from Medayaya Maha Vidyalaya, Mahiyanganaya, Medabedda Maha Vidyalaya, Wahakotte and Al-Azhar College Kalmunai had the opportunity to participate in the ‘Vision’ programme organized by the Presidential Secretariat, yesterday (24).
This initiative, jointly implemented by the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Education and the Department of Communication of the Parliament of Sri Lank.
During the visit, students were also introduced to the “Clean Sri Lanka” programme and its underlying values.
Speaking at the event, Senior Additional Secretary to the President, Mr. Prasanna Chandith, highlighted that children, too, have a role to play in the government’s efforts to advance the country through a new social transformation. He further noted that disciplined and capable human resources are essential to a nation’s progress and that everyone has a duty to contribute to national development.
As part of the programme, valuable saplings were gifted to the schools as a symbolic gesture promoting environmental conservation. Students also received copies of the Vision magazine.
The event was attended by Air Commodore Asiri Gallage, Director of Tri-Forces Coordination at the Presidential Secretariat, Major Nadika Dangolla, Assistant Director of the Tri-Forces Coordination Unit, as well as school principals, teachers, parents and other guests.
