Sri Lanka and the Maldives Celebrate 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations

President Plants a Sapling to Mark the Occasion

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is currently on a state visit to the Maldives, took part in a ceremonial tree planting event this afternoon (30) held at the Sultan Park in Male, to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

The event was also attended by President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Maldivian Minister of Tourism and Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim and representing the Government of Sri Lanka, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, along with several other dignitaries.
