Acting Ministers Appointed

In light of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s departure for a state visit to the Maldives, four acting ministers have been appointed to oversee key ministries.

Acting appointments have been made for the Ministry of Digital Economy, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, all of which come under the purview of the President.

In addition, an acting appointment has been made for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, which is held by Minister Vijitha Herath, who is accompanying the President on the visit.

Accordingly, Anil Jayantha Fernando, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Digital Economy. Aruna Jayasekara, Deputy Minister of Defence, has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Defence and Arun Hemachandra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.

Mission

The Presidential Media Division is fully responsible for socializing the views, actions, decisions and statements of His Excellency the President through the media. Electronic, print and new media will contribute to this through a credible and engaging approach.

The media department works as a source of information on the subject of the President’s vision and mission by maintaining good coordination with public and private media organizations and journalists.
