The ‘Suhada’ (friendly) Cricket Tournament organized by the Welfare and Sports Division of the President Media Division (PMD) was held at the Maharagama Youth Service Stadium yesterday (27).
Eight teams representing the President Media Division, namely Editorial Challengers, Advance Power, Fire Balls, Digital Nomads, Golden Flashes, Monsters, Batting Divas (Women) and Bomb Squad (Women) participated in this tournament.
The Golden Flashes emerged champions of the tournament representing the Transport Division, and the Fire Balls representing the Photography Division emerged as runners-up of the tournament.
The Golden Flashes team comprised Dhanushka Vanniarachchi (Captain), Janith Malinda Perera, Tanuj Madhusankha, Samantha Pradeep Kumar, Vinod Haritha, Nandana Kumar, Priyadarshan Alvitigala, M.P. Sunil, Mekala Avanti Jayatunga and Nethuni Bandara.
Captain of the Golden Flashes Dhanushka Vanniarachchi was adjudged the best cricketer of the tournament while Captain of the Advance Power team, Dhanushka Ramanayake won the Best Batsman Award. Suminda Keerthi of Fireballs won the best bowler award while the Captain of the Batting Divas team won the Best Female Player award.
The trophies and prizes were presented to the players by the Senior Advisor to the President (International Media) Kshenuka Senewiratne, Director General of President Media Division Dhanushka Ramanayake, Senior Assistant Secretary to the President Sudeera Nilanga Withana and Director of President Media Division W.M.K. Wijayabandara.
The Presidential Media Division is fully responsible for socializing the views, actions, decisions and statements of His Excellency the President through the media. Electronic, print and new media will contribute to this through a credible and engaging approach.
